QUIRKY HOME IDEAS : 4 House Areas to Start Your Roofed Flower Garden

The bliss that yields from the wonders of flowers is exceptional. There’s something in them that gives you a calming and restful feeling. You are cradled in the middle of a flower garden, and it’s a really nice place where your mind and heart can be enlivened.

Because of the countless advantages of a flower garden to one’s health, many people choose to have their own at home. It’s surely pleasurable because aside from its visual boons, a flower garden gives you something to look forward to and to be merry even when you’re just alone.

Aside from the house’s facade and backyard which are the most common spots for a garden, you may also choose to have yours under a roofed area where your plants are kept well. There could be security reasons or other personal reasons you have for that, and the good news is that there are solutions!

Some house areas which you might have not immediately thought about can actually be where your roofed flower garden is set. You just need some resourceful and clever ideas to make work those which are not usually considered a garden area. You can make them possible!

Here are 5 house areas where you can start your roofed flower garden! Go get some colorful ideas in organizing them as well plus the reasons why they are advantageous.

[1] INTERIOR WINDOW SILLS

You can look out through windows to see the scenic views outdoors, but something out-of-the-box, you can let the irresistible allure be right on your window sills!

The window sill is the surface on the foot of the window. It is the ledge where you can place some items. Serving as a shelf under the window, the sill is the perfect place to put your flowers if you want them seen outdoors yet they are indoors! Small to medium pots of different designs can be used to embellish your mini flower garden.

Not easily imaginable for some who love opening their windows, a flower garden on the interior sills is just so beautiful! While you might think that it could make the windows difficult to open, think first that it depends on how you arrange them carefully. Truth is as long as the windows are functional, you can still open them for the fresh air to come in. Actually, the flower garden can add more to the aesthetic of a wide-open window.

Sometimes, you can also let the flowers peek and hang outdoors while still inside. They just get some external nutrients, but you are sure they are secure because your roof got them totally covered.

[2] VERANDA

Get to your flower garden in just a few steps! Let your veranda be a magical place of flowers and plants that make you smile without having to go a mile!

The veranda is a roofed platform along the exterior of a house. Kids usually play outside, but if you want them to be safer than when they are fully outside the house, the veranda is a good place. The same for your flower garden; they may not be completely outside but they are there, just covered by a roof, so you ascertain they can be safe.

There are many types and styles of roofs which can be installed over your veranda. You can match them with your house’s main roof, or you can be more artistic and have another design. It would be helpful if the design and structure will be suitable for hanging flowers too. Verandas are even more beautified by them! Make sure that the roof is really appropriate for that purpose, so you can avoid costly roof repairs and renovations in the future.

Within a veranda, there are many spots wherein you can put your flowers aside from the roof’s help. The floor leveled with the house’s ground floor is fitting for all sizes and styles of pots. The quantity depends on the space of your veranda. Walls can have trellis where plants are attached.

The veranda’s rails with thick spaces on top are best for long rectangular pots. Preferably, use plastic pots, so in case of mishaps leading your flowers to drop to the ground, there will be no breakages and no harm for anyone.

[3] GARAGE

Old or new, your garage can be the ultimate place for your roofed flower garden!

While the exterior and the back part of the garage could be spacious and uncovered, the insides are also awesome! If it is an old and unused garage, you should clean it first. Throw out the unwanted stuff which are no longer operational. As you know, an old garage is sometimes turned into a storage room of unused things, so there’s a lot of modifications to do first before putting in your flowers.

Most especially if the garage is detached to the house, make sure that door damages, roof repairs, wall cracks (if any) are addressed immediately to avoid animals and pests from entering and to avoid possible theft by plant robbers!

[4] KITCHEN

Did your eyes widen? Yup, the kitchen is here in this list.

Some more creative juices are needed to be squeezed for you to realize that the kitchen can also be the house area where your flower garden is situated! Best if you have a big kitchen, you can put large potted flowers on the ground. This is where vertical plant hangers are perfect to be utilized!

You will no longer need expensive, stylish wallpapers and paintings when you have gorgeous flowers in your kitchen. Also, if you are going for a gleefully themed kitchen, you will never go wrong with that kitchen flower garden.

Bear in mind that the plants need not to be side by side to consider that they form a garden. You can scatter the flowers throughout the kitchen as you want, and altogether, they transform into an adorable flower garden already!

Besides being considered as decorations, the flowers can uplift the mood of everybody cooking in the kitchen and eating on the dining table! You can actually multitask like using some excess water from the sink to water your flowers nearby. Visually pleasing and practically amazing!

QUIRKY HOME IDEAS

Having a roof over your flower garden is beneficial in so many ways. Of course, the protection the roof gives your plants is peerless. When you can enjoy your flowers within your house or in a covered area, you feel closer to them too.

See to it that even though your flower garden has a roof over it, your flowers still receive the amount of sunlight that they need. If possible, do not completely put them away from spaces where rain can quench their thirst too. However, if they are totally indoors, forget not to water and nourish them daily or as needed.

Your flower garden, even when roofed, can be very extraordinary and abundant. Take care of it well, and use your quirky ideas to start and enhance it even more!
